Therapeutic Riding is recognized worldwide for its powerful impact on an individual’s overall cognitive, physical and emotional well-being. For individuals with diverse support needs, the benefits can be truly transformative. Riding not only improves strength, balance, and coordination, but also enhances self-esteem, concentration, social interaction, and overall health. This inclusive activity celebrates all abilities, empowering participants to achieve personal growth through connection with the horse and rider community.
WindReach’s Therapeutic Riding Programme is accredited by the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA), and all of our instructors are CanTRA-certified. We are proud to offer a high-quality programme that promotes challenge, achievement, empowerment, and independence for individuals of all abilities.
Each lesson, whether individual or group, is tailored to the participant’s specific needs and goals. Lessons include warm-up exercises, progressive skill development, and fun, therapeutic games. Our trained volunteers assist alongside instructors to ensure a safe and supportive environment, allowing each participant to get the most out of every session.
Why Horses?
Because they’re fun—and so much more!
A well-trained therapy horse moves in a rhythmic, symmetrical, and organized way. Each step provides powerful sensory and physical input in multiple directions—up and down, side to side, and back and forth. Instructors use these movements intentionally to promote balance, coordination, and body awareness in ways that simply can’t be replicated in any other setting.
