WindReach Activity Centre
WindReach’s Activity Centre is a fully accessible, 2,500-square-foot multi-purpose facility featuring spacious open areas on both the upper and lower levels. Each floor includes a fully equipped kitchen and accessible restrooms. The Centre serves as a hub for WindReach’s programmes, including Adaptive Sports, Life Skills, and Older Adult activities.
Outside of programming and therapeutic hours, the Upper Hall is available for rent and provides a versatile space for business meetings, social gatherings, art and craft shows, educational seminars, and special events. With its expansive layout and peaceful natural surroundings, the Activity Centre offers an ideal setting for any occasion.
Sensory Room at WindReach
Located on the lower level of our Activity Centre, WindReach’s Sensory Room and accompanying Activity Room (collectively known as the Sensory Room) provide a calm and engaging multi-sensory environment for individuals with diverse support needs.
Thanks to the generous support of major sponsor PartnerRe and supporting sponsor XL Foundation, the Sensory Room officially opened in June 2014. Designed and installed by Flaghouse, global leaders in multi-sensory environments, the space incorporates the latest advancements in Sensory Room technology.
This is Bermuda’s only publicly available Sensory Room for individuals within the diverse support needs community. We encourage anyone with diverse support needs to consider using this space as an additional therapeutic and recreational service offered by WindReach.
Why Use a Sensory Room?
A Sensory Room (also known as a Snoezelen Room) is a multi-sensory environment built on the principle that everyone has the right to quality leisure and meaningful sensory experiences.
While anyone can enjoy the Sensory Room, it has been especially beneficial for individuals with diverse support needs or behavioural challenges. Professionals around the world have found Sensory Rooms to be valuable tools for improving wellbeing and quality of life — with reports of participants showing reduced self-injurious behaviours, increased communication, and enhanced calmness and joy.
A Sensory Room can be adapted to educate, stimulate, relax, calm, or energize by adjusting lighting, sounds, textures, and atmosphere to suit each individual’s needs. This highly motivating environment allows participants to engage in sensory activities that are both meaningful and therapeutic, guided by a therapist, teacher, or support worker.
Who Can Benefit?
- Infants: Babies born prematurely or with diverse support needs
- Children and Adults: Those with developmental disabilities, learning differences, autism spectrum disorder, behavioural challenges, ADHD, vision impairments, intellectual or physical disabilities, or mental health conditions
- Older Adults: Especially individuals living with dementia
Sensory Room Usage
All individuals using the Sensory Room must be accompanied by an adult who has been shown how to use the equipment by a WindReach staff member.
A 15–20 minute orientation will familiarize you with both rooms and ensure the equipment is used safely and effectively.

Animal Zone
Our Animal Therapy Zone is home to a variety of friendly animals, including a donkey, pygmy goats, Dorper sheep, and rabbits. Caring for and interacting with animals has long been recognized for its therapeutic benefits, offering valuable opportunities for participants in our Life Skills and Environmental Education Programmes to work toward their individual goals.
The animals at WindReach bring joy and comfort to thousands of individuals each year and play a vital role in helping us fulfill our mission, providing meaningful experiences that support learning, growth, and wellbeing.
The Animal Therapy Zone also offers wonderful opportunities for volunteers to get involved in caring for our animals. If you’re interested in volunteering, please visit our Volunteer Page for more information.
Please note that access to the Animal Therapy Zone is limited to supervised visits to ensure the wellbeing of our therapy animals. Group visits for the general public can be arranged outside of programming hours on weekdays.
Visits are $10 per child, with a minimum of 8 children per group.
Riding Centre
Our Therapeutic Riding Programme is based at the WindReach Riding Centre, which includes a fully equipped barn, an indoor riding arena with lights, an outdoor sand arena, and spacious turnout paddocks.
We currently own five horses who actively participate in the programme, along with two boarder horses whose presence helps to subsidize the costs of maintaining the facility and supporting our therapeutic initiatives.
Gardens and Woodlands
Outdoor activity is a key component of WindReach’s programmes, and our gardens play an essential role in this experience. Generously supported by our donor Chubb through the Life Skills Programme, the gardens feature a large number of beds that our participants help to plant and maintain.
Seasonal plants, herbs, and crops are grown throughout the year, with produce often shared among participants, many of whom nurture their plants from seed. Beyond being an enjoyable and relaxing activity, gardening also serves as a powerful therapeutic tool, helping participants achieve a range of personal goals while fostering connection with nature.
Adult Day Programme Facility
Our Adult Day Programme Facility was thoughtfully designed to provide a warm, welcoming environment where participants feel at home. The space includes a comfortable activity room, accessible restrooms, and direct access to our beautiful gardens. This inviting setting supports a variety of engaging activities and therapeutic experiences that promote social connection, independence, and overall wellbeing.
Boundless Playground
Our playground offers a safe and engaging outdoor space for children to explore, play, and develop physical skills. Designed to encourage active play, social interaction, and creativity, it provides a fun environment where participants can enjoy fresh air, exercise, and the benefits of outdoor activity as part of WindReach’s programmes.
The Boundless Playground is open to the public at select times during the year, but mostly on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Check our Instagram for the most up-to-date open dates
A playground visit costs $10 per child
Farm Shop
Our charming Farm Shop is operated by our C.R.E.W. team participants and dedicated volunteers, who work together to create a wonderful selection of handmade goods, delicious baked treats, and comforting coffee and tea. Every purchase supports the meaningful work and programmes at WindReach.
